Finding The Perfect Floor Rug
Floor rugs enhance the look of a room, bringing warmth, colour and comfort both visually and physically. Rugs provide a comfortable and warm walking surface for adults and playing area for children. A rug will provide a soft surface for your toddler to fall over on and even pets like the soft comfort of a rug to stretch out on.
When choosing floor rugs there are several things you should think of. Firstly, how big is the rug to be? Do you want it to reach almost to the walls of the room, or is it just to be a small square in front of the sofa? If you were thinking of a larger rug, then it might even be better to go for a full carpet instead. Having the border of a rug will make the room floor space look a little smaller.
However, there are many beautiful and unusual designs and colours in floor rugs that do not seem to be available in carpets, so if you want your room to look striking, a floor rug may be the best option. There are soft floor rugs and hard-backed rugs.
A soft rug is lighter to move but more difficult to vacuum as the rug tends to get sucked up with the dirt. The ends and corners are likely to be kicked up and could pose a tripping hazard. Hard backed rungs have a stiffened back that keeps them free of wrinkles. The edges cannot be kicked up so they are safer. But some tend to be slippery especially the smaller ones that have no furniture on them to provide an anchor. So if you can find a rug with rubber corners to keep it anchored it will be the perfect rug.
