Light socket wiring question? (photo included) There are 4 terminals but only 3 wires.?
Ok, so im wiring a light socket for a lamp im trying to make, im in Australia and ive got the earth, live and neutral wires from the power, i figured the live goes in the L and the earth wire goes in the E but i cant figure out which of the other two the neutral goes in as they are unmarked? why are there so many terminals? is it for a switch somehow? please explain

ok i got it, figured out with trial+ error that the two unmarked terminals on the socket are the Hot and Neutral terminals..dunno what the L on the socket is supposed to stand for, maybe for a switch or linking other lights?
Color codes
Standard wire colours for flexible cable such as Extension cords, power (line) cords and lamp cords.

Australia and South Africa red black green & yellow (core is usually bare and should be sleeved at terminations. In Australia the earth core has been separately insulated with green or green/yellow plastic since about 1980.
United States and Canada 120/208/240V: black, red, blue (brass)
277/480V: brown, orange, yellow 120/208/240V: white (silver)
277/480V: grey green (green)
or bare copper wire
Isolated ground: Green with yellow stripe
In other words, Hot always to BRASS colored screw. Neutral always to Silver. Ground always to green. Sometimes other items are run in tandem with the unit, that is why you have more than one connection for Hot and Neutral.
